Free Software

Below you can download 32/64 bit Linux kernel drivers for SBIG USB CCD cameras including the JSbigCamSrv and JWebCamSrv - Java servers and clients applications for free.

The JSbigCamSrv application allows you to control your SBIG USB CCD cameras either locally or via the network. The released packages include all the necessary shared libraries including SBIG's hex, bin and C header files. Please note, the Linux kernel drivers are based on SBIG proprietary code, so if you need their source code, contact SBIG directly. This
software is free, but is copyright by Jan Soldan. You may not sell the software without advance permission from the author.

The JWebCamSrv application captures the B/W video images and stores them as series of FITS files. Internally, the JWebCamSrv produces the B/W images with 8 bit resolution which is saved as 16 bit FITS files. The server uses the uvcvideo kernel driver which has to be installed first. This web camera server was tested with my two Logitech QuickCam cameras and shots up to 3-4 frames/sec with the resolution 1600 x 1200 pixels.

There are also simple JSbigCamCli and JWebCamCli Java console applications for  controlling the servers.
There is also HTML document describing all the Java public methods users may utilize in their client applications.

I have basically finished an INDI server-client driver for SBIG CCD cameras. This driver allows you to control the SBIG CCD cameras either locally or remotely via the powerful KStars, EXphem or any other application supporting the INDI communication protocol.
